Do I need an account to use Alpha?

No. Alpha works without any sign-up, email, or password. You can open the app and start tracking right away. Your data stays on your device.

Where is my data stored? Is it private?

Your holdings and transactions are stored locally on your iPhone. If you turn on iCloud Sync, they sync through your own private iCloud account, which we can't access. You can also lock the app behind Face ID and blur your balances with privacy mode. See the Privacy Policy for details.

What is time-weighted return, and why does it matter?

Time-weighted return (TWR) measures your investment performance independently of when you deposit or withdraw money. It answers “how well are my investments actually doing?” rather than just “how much money is in the account?” That's why it's the standard pros use to compare performance fairly.

How does Compete work without an account?

You share a QR code or a short code with a friend to connect. From then on you can compare relative performance and earn achievement coins. Only percentages, tickers, and dates are shared between friends, never your balances or net worth. You can stop sharing and delete shared data anytime.

Can I import my existing portfolio?

Yes. Alpha supports CSV import and export for your transactions, so you can bring data in and take it with you whenever you like.

Which languages and devices are supported?

Alpha is available in English, Japanese (日本語), Arabic (العربية), Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia), and Korean (한국어). It runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later.

How do I turn on the Face ID lock or privacy blur?

Open Settings inside the app. There you'll find the app lock (Face ID) toggle and privacy mode, which blurs all currency values until you tap to reveal them.

Is Alpha free?

Alpha is free to download and use. There are optional one-time in-app purchases for cosmetic themes; they never gate your data or core features.
